The community of Cumberland/Oxford is home to 3 playgrounds, Cumberland, Oxford and Hudson, with another on the way in Carlton at Elizabeth Finch School.







Carlton Park Update (Elizabeth Finch School)

The playground is finally coming!!

That’s right, you read that correctly. The City has finally approved our NPDP funding which is the last piece of the puzzle to build Phase 1 of the playground!

Construction is slated for Spring/Summer 2012. An official construction date has not been released so please check back to the website regularly for updates. 
    
Fundraising

We are still continuing to raise funds towards the second phase of this project. Check out the Fundraising page for details about our next bottle drive and other fundraising activities.

What will be in Phase I


Initial groundwork (excavation, lighting, curbing, sand,woodchips,rubber)
All playground Equipment
Sledding Hill (Possibly in Phase II)
Benches and Picnic Tables

Due to increases in construction costs, there will be items that will need to be moved to phase II. Construction of Phase II is currently not planned due to funding.

Homeowners' Efforts Build Community Playgrounds

Out on the edges of Edmonton, playgrounds are a big issue. Developers put in the roads, sewer lines and electricity — the homes have sidewalks without cracks, and sometimes pathways to a stormwater lake. Home buyers get maps that point out where schools and playgrounds are planned to go, but the slides and swings don’t come until the neighbours band together and start the process.
