Communities on Foot
Walkability adds strength and enjoyment to the fabric of community life. While out walking, we meet our neighbours, get some exercise, visit local shops, and enjoy public spaces. We also become the 'eyes on the street' that enhance safety and reduce crime.
As you know COCL is a very large community and there are a number of walking trails, lakes and green spaces but, we do not all know where they are or how to get there from our neighborhoods. We want to provide information about where the trails are located and their entry points, what they link to (business, lake, school, or playground) and how many minutes it will take to walk or bike there. Our hope is to provide information and maps so you and your family can get out and enjoy your community.
The Community League will be working with the City of Edmonton to create these Community Walking Maps and in order to do so we need your help. If you are interested in working on the Community Walking Map project please email the president or leave a phone message at 780-478-1957 with your name, phone number and email address. |
